Srinagar, Nov 27 (KNO): The Traffic Police Srinagar, led by SSP Traffic City Srinagar Ajaz Ahmad Bhat, on Thursday launched a special drive near SMHS Hospital to tackle the growing problem of wrong parking that frequently leads to traffic congestion and obstructs patient access.
Speaking to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) after the drive, SSP Bhat said the operation aimed to clear the hospital approach road, especially the OPD side, which often remains choked due to vehicles parked on the roadside despite the availability of a designated parking area.
“We have launched this drive to lift all wrongly parked vehicles so that the area remains open and accessible,” SSP Ajaz Bhat said.
He added that the focus of the drive is not merely punitive but corrective, aimed at reclaiming parking space and ensuring that patients and attendants do not face unnecessary inconvenience.
“SMHS is a critical hospital with heavy footfall every day. Our intention is to create space for patients and ambulances, not to harass anyone. We have coordinated with the hospital administration to streamline entry and parking,” he said.
The SSP further said that similar drives will continue in other high-congestion zones across Srinagar to maintain smooth vehicular movement and prevent misuse of road space—(KNO)
